Power supply setup and instruction for a Turnigy Accucell 6 charger

The Turnigy Accucell 6 charger is a nice smart charger and its small and inexpensive, about $23 at Hobbyking. BUT, it doesn’t work straight out of the box. You will require a power supply.

You will need at least 10 amps on the 12v supply rail. Yes, the Accucell says it only requires 6 amps but I have found this to not be the case. Only 10 amps or greater has proven reliable to me. An old PC power supply will work well, or a car battery. If you don’t have enough amps the Accucel will shut down upon charging ‘start’.

Watch these youtube videos on how to setup the PC power supply and operation of the charger. Its not intuitive. Yea, I could make a video of how to do this, but these two are already here and are really good!

tip: to turn on the power supply jumper the green wire to black on the large pin connector. Or install a switch instead of a jumper.

Always charge and store LiPo/LiFe/Lion batteries in a fireproof metal box!!!! I use an old soup pot with lid. Charging batteries is dangerous, do not leave unattended. This is serious!
